- Peter, very few people know your name, yet your work is everywhere in the club.
- (laughs) That's probably true. My agency, pb marketing, has been designing the information boards, scoreboards, birdie books and all the graphics for the club for 13 years.
- You also brought the popular Pro Am to the Engadin. How did that come about?
- Our agency has been active in the golf market for 27 years with ‘GolfersChoice’ products, including tournament organisation. For twelve years, we ran a ProAm at the GC Ybrig, which was a one-day event at the time. Then, over ten years ago, the club director at the time, Daniel Schaltegger, asked me if we wanted to bring the tournament to the Engadin – this time as a three-day event. I was immediately enthusiastic.
- How was the idea received in the Swiss golfing community?
- Very positively. Many of the pros who had already been involved in Ybrig were quick to sign up – not least because there are some top pros working in the Engadin itself. Sponsors and partners also showed great interest right from the start. The consistently high demand from all sides (sponsors, organisers and participants) confirms this to this day.
- What makes the GolfersChoice Pro Am so special?
- I would say the whole package: from the always fantastic sponsors to the field of participants to the highly professional execution by the entire team at the Engadine Golf Club. The cooperation with the management, the secretariat, the greenkeeper team, the pros and the catering team is simply terrific.
- Was there one edition that particularly stands out in your memory?
- Each one had its own charm, but 2023 was definitely special. A mudslide destroyed several holes in Zuoz, and there was heavy rain. Nevertheless, we made the best of it and played – in a shortened format and without a practice round. The atmosphere was fantastic nonetheless.
- What can we expect from the anniversary edition?
- Among other things, exclusive Anavon skis designed especially for the tournament as the main prizes – and certainly a few other surprises.
