Christophe, what do you love about your job?
The encounters. Every ten minutes, a new story begins – you meet people from all over the world. I love guessing people's hidden personalities in the five minutes before they tee off. I know immediately who I could be friends with and who I couldn't.You get to know all kinds of different characters and should always remain friendly. Is there anything that upsets you?
Disrespect. Otherwise, I remain calm.We probably can't even imagine what you've seen in terms of tee shots and events at the 1st tee...
I've actually seen some crazy balls: one bounced from box to box and came back; another smashed a car window. Once, an entire ice hockey team teed off – ten out of 15 left-handers! I could go on and on...How would you describe our members and guests who play on our courses?
The members and guests in the Engadin are a very diverse mix. There are simple and educated, nice and arrogant, complicated and smiling, eccentric and shy people... I even dedicated a chapter in my novel to the different personality types of our golfers.
How do you experience tournament days, as opposed to everyday business?
I now have a lot of experience and therefore enjoy them very much. The higher the level, the more exciting and fantastic it is. As a starter, I have a privileged place in the front row.An experience you'll never forget?
At the Hickory Tournament with whisky tasting, one player was so drunk that he took ten swings before hitting the ball – after the second hole, he had to leave the course. It's also always special when I shake hands with very famous people...Why Samedan and not Zuoz-Madulain?
Because it's closer to Maloja, where I live, and there's more going on.
